Police: Teen Found Safe After Abduction, Home Invasion

Philadelphia Police say two armed men stormed a home, stole cash and abducted a 15-year-old boy from Ferndale Street in Northeast Philadelphia around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, the 15-year-old was found safe on the 2300 block of Fairmount Avenue in Center City around 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Authorities say the boy called his father Christian Garnica to say he was on his way home this afternoon. Then, police say, the father heard a knock at the door and opened the door to find two armed men standing there. The suspects came into the home, tied up Garnica and his wife and robbed them, according to police. Investigators say the suspects then took off with their son, but it remains unclear how the suspects got the son.

“They came in, they had guns, they asked us for the money, jewelry,” said Garnica.

Just as the victim was speaking out, detectives returned the boy home.

"We don't worry about material things. We just worry about my son," said Garnica.

Police believe the suspects got away with about $30,000 in cash and $100,000 in jewelry.

Police are searching for the two suspects. They believe the suspects fled in a white Subaru with tinted windows.

The family owns several businesses, including a mattress, construction and real estate business.

Philadelphia Police are still investigating the incident.
