Gwinnett police are investigating a fatal accident involving a bicyclist and two cars.

The accident occurred on Club Drive and Woodstream Drive in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

Investigators tell FOX 5 that Justin Shaw, 13, was riding his bike east on Woodstream Drive and intended to turn left onto Club Drive.

He was riding downhill as he approached a stop sign on Woodstream Drive, but did not stop.

The driver of a Chevrolet Equinox saw the bicyclist enter Club Drive and immediately applied her brakes. The driver was unable to stop and struck the teenager, according to police.

The impact caused the bicyclist to enter the lane of another car headed northbound. That driver also struck the bicyclist, according to reports.

Justin Shaw was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with life threatening injuries. He was later flown to Egleston Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Charges regarding this accident are not anticipated as this investigation continues.
