The stunning defeat of Virginia congressman Eric Cantor in the primary earlier this month could have a profound impact on immigration reform in this country. Cantor appeared to be open to some sort of amnesty program, but he was defeated by Dave Bratt, a Tea Party favorite who is on record as taking a hard line on immigration.

We'll discuss immigration reform with Rita Medina from the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles. CHIRLA was founded in 1983 in response to the number of people arriving in Los Angeles from Central America. The community-based agency has become the most influential organization of its kind in Southern California.

CHIRA is located at 2533 West 3rd Street in Los Angeles. The telephone number is (213) 353-1333. CHIRLA's website is www.chirla.org

This week's Wednesday's Child is another sample of just how strong the human spirit is even in the earliest stages. Samajai (2012) has been negotiating many medical issues since his beginning, including Intrauterine Growth Restriction, Microcephaly, Goldenhar Syndrome, an ear anomaly, hypospadius, a ventricular septal defect, a cleft palate and a rib/sternum anomaly.

This week we want to make a federal case for Joseph (1998) finding a forever family, so we obtained the necessary clearances to accompany Joseph to the Los Angeles Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). And during our friendly investigation, we found Joseph to be a dynamic teen with a good bit of focus and determination for someone his age.
