Storm Leaves Damage In Chester County

CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. -

A storm rolled into Chester County Thursday evening, which dumped rain and winds so swift they brought down a large tree limb.

It missed resident Ricardo's home by inches.

“We are lucky, we are really lucky it fell in that way exactly like this,” he said.

A mile away a tree splintered in half, crashing into an apartment complex. Luckily, no one was hurt.

“We were already on the street from previous calls through the storm so we were here really quick,” said Malvern Fire Chief Neil.

“When the storm started looked out window saw big white sparks like fireworks going off,” said resident MaryAnn Severance.

Winds thrust two power lines together. Severance says she was worried about storm damage, but fire wasn't even on the radar.

“It was a little bit that hit the frayed part of the wire coming into the house, so luckily it was outside and we're safe,” said Severance .

That homeowner suffered about $1,000 worth of damage to her home.

With the holiday tomorrow, the Malvern Fire Department said they were practicing for the parade, so they were able to get out the door quickly.
