Five people were injured in an accident involving a SEPTA paratransit van Sunday in North Philadelphia.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. at Sixth and Cambria streets.

Police say a car involved in the wreck took off but didn't get very far, FOX 29's Dave Kinchen reports.

According to police, a 48-year-old man driving a brown Cadillac and traveling south on Sixth Street ran the red light, striking the transit van and causing it to overturn.

The driver of the paratransit van and three female passengers all suffered neck and back pains and lacerations to the face.

One pedestrian, a 25-year-old man, was also injured when the bus hit the light pole, causing it to fall on his back.

The pedestrian and paratransit driver was transported to Hahnemann University Hospital by medics and reported to be in stable condition. The three female passengers from the van were taken to Temple University Hospital and also listed in stable condition.

The driver of the Cadillac suffered no injuries and was apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
