The victim of a hit and run accident in Manhattan six weeks ago has died. Charity Hicks had been in a coma since being hit by a car at a bus stop on 10th Avenue May 31st. Hicks was a community activist from Detroit who helped start the anti-water shut off movement. She was in New York to speak at a conference. The medical examiner says she died of blunt impact injuries. The driver then fled the scene on foot and hasn't been caught.

Demonstrators at the People's Water Board rally at Hart Plaza on Friday say they're saddened to learn of the loss of their founder. News of her passing circulated at the gathering.
