GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

A judge refused to grant bond for a Gwinnett County man accused of beating a 16-month-old toddler to death.

Police were called out to the Sienna Heights apartments Monday night around 10:00 p.m., in unincorporated Norcross.

Noah Nolan was transported to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead upon his arrival.

Police say Nolan had been severely beaten and the initial responding officers got a quick look at the child and he had obvious physical injuries.

Cody Williams, 23, has been charged with felony murder. Williams appeared before a judge Tuesday night.

Williams is the boyfriend of Nolan’s mother and was watching the infant when the incident was reported, according to police.

An arrest warrant obtained by FOX 5 indicates Williams struck the child with great force, twice in the face. Then, the report indicates, Williams violently shook the child for reasons that are not yet known.

Gwinnett Police say an autopsy will be conducted.

Police tell FOX 5 Nolan's mother was at work when all of this happened and had left her two children with her boyfriend.
