Coroner: Griffith man’s death ruled homicide

MUNSTER, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man from Griffith, Ind. died Sunday morning in what the Lake County Coroner’s Office has called a homicide, the Post-Tribune is reporting.

Carlos Ponce, 41, was pronounced dead at 8:52 a.m. Sunday at Community Hospital in Munster from blunt force trauma.

The Griffith Police Department said on its Facebook page that Ponce was involved in an altercation with a friend at his residence in the 1000 block of Oakwood Street early Sunday morning. Police do not believe the public is at danger.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is helping investigate.
