Police: Father Punches Wawa Customer For Looking At His Daughter

Police: Father Punches Wawa Customer For Looking At His Daughter

Posted: Updated:
UPPER DARBY, Pa. - Upper Darby Police are looking for a father accused of punching another man at a Wawa store after claiming the customer was eyeing his teenage daughter. The incident happened along the 400 block of South 69th Street around 5:15 p.m. on Sunday.

“The man ordering the sandwich said he wasn't looking at the guys daughter. And the guy sucker punched him, knocking him to the ground,” said Upper Darby Superintendent Michael Chitwood .

The 47-year-old victim suffered a possible concussion and remains hospitalized. Police say the dad could be charged with assault and making terroristic threats.

“It's excessive, give me a break if somebody is looking at somebody else it's not enough to get sucker punched and hospitalized,” said Chitwood. “I could see if there was an assault or threats, but just to be looking, and then to leave the store in such a big hurry they didn't identify themselves they just ran out of the store.”

Parents who shop at the Wawa say they can understand the dad's irritation; however, think he should have used his words, not his fists.

“I think they're both in the wrong. Street harassment is a serious thing and some guys can be perverted. I don't know what was said, but violence is never acceptable either,” said one customer

Police say the dad and daughter drove away in a dark colored four-door Ford.
