CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Tourists will start arriving in Chicago Thursday for Lollapalooza 2014.

Hotel rooms near Grant Park are filling up. However, if attendees are looking to lodge near Lolla on a budget, a local university is offering its dormitory rooms for rent.

The Flats at East West University is a 17-story student housing building that just opened at 829 S. Wabash in the South Loop. The dormitory has two and three bedroom apartments with lake views, a full kitchen and it’s located one block from the concert venue in Grant Park.

Students like it because it's close to the action and helps save money on the food budget.

Heather Washington used to live at The Flats.

"You're staying 3 days, you have a kitchen and don't have to worry about constantly going out to eat, that's the great part about it," Washington said.

She added that public transportation is very close and if you're going to go out to eat, there are plenty of places nearby that stay open late.

Guests can even see the concert stages from the university.

The dormitory apartments run $400 to $600 a night for four to six adults and $100 per person for a group stay during Lollapalooza weekend, which is not as cheap as a hostel but less than a hotel suite.

Jovani Thompson is the Housing Director for East-West University. She said that Lolla guests will stay on different floors than students.

"Midterms are going on so we want to make sure we're not disrespectful to those students," Thompson said.

She also said security is strict and that no outside guests can enter. The university does not allow alcohol or smoking in the building.
