Gym Teacher Launches Campaign To Challenge LeBron James To Dunk Off

Posted: Updated:

A North Philadelphia gym teacher is using social media to challenge LeBron James to a dunk off.

FOX 29'S Sabina Kuriakose has the story behind the creative campaign.

Han Muller has been a gym teacher at Howe Academic Plus for five years. He's known for promising his classes he’d dunk at the end of class if they behave. He soon developed a reputation among students as being better than LeBron James.

Now, Hans and his students are starting a video and social media campaign to try to get LeBron to come to their school for a dunk contest. Hans wants his students to meet someone who, like them, grew up in tough circumstances and used his talents to rise to the top.

"They just thought I was better than LeBron James because I could do a throw off the backboard dunk or a reverse dunk or something. They just thought that was great because they probably haven't seen any of that live. They asked me if I was better than LeBron James, and of course, I went along with it, I'm better than LeBron James,” said teacher/dunker Han Muller or Mr. Muller, as his students call him.

The students are thrilled they might get the chance to meet LeBron James.

"Just to meet somebody that's grown up in a situation that's similar to a lot of the kids that come to our school,” said one student.

"I want them to see that hard work is going to get you somewhere that you want. It might not be the NBA, but it might be graduate college,” another said.

Mr. Muller's students hope the hashtag will get their second favorite player's attention.

“Even if I look silly on camera or silly in front of my school. I have no problem looking bad in front of my school if they got to meet LeBron. Just the experience alone for them. For the rest of their lives, they'll be able to take that with them wherever they go,” said Muller.

If you wish to help spread the word, use the following hashtags on social media:
