State owns blighted property

ATLANTA, Ga. -

More than one community in Atlanta can make a valid complaint about tire dumping, vandalism and general blight.

In Atlanta there is a massive property on the southwest side running along Bakers Ferry Road, but this situation is different from all the others because the property owner is the state of Georgia.

It sits next to a well established middle class neighborhood where you will see deer crossing signs.

Twenty-five-feet from the curb is the first of several signs car thieves use the property. There are burn marks showing the outline of a vehicle that has been torched.

The national guard plans to use the property for training and officials promises the residents there will be a second clean-up and security fencing.
