Fight over flag house ends

Brent Greer doesn't have to worry about what he as his fight for liberty any more. The city of Bradenton has closed its code enforcement case against him.

"It's great. They should've dropped it and never opened it," said Greer.

It started after an anonymous complaint was reported earlier this year which led to multiple violations being filed against him. He faced fines up to $250 a day. In protest he and his family grabbed some red white and blue paint and got to work.

"I painted the house the American flag to remind code enforcement and everybody else this is America, the land of the free," he said.

Support poured in from across the country as his house made national headlines.

Still, in June the code enforcement board said he'd have to fix the issues or pay up. Help would come in the form of volunteers, including the Guardian Angels of Southwest Florida. They helped paint and fix windows.

"It's now an attraction. People love it; the response has been overwhelmingly positive. I wouldn't change it for anything," Greer said.

"At first it was it was in protest, but now it's going to stay," he added.
