Detroit Police suspend six officers from narcotics unit

Posted: Updated:
CITY OF DETROIT - Six former members of the Detroit Police narcotics unit have been suspended for failing to report evidence from a drug raid.

Sources have told Fox 2 that Chief James Craig decided to suspend the officers.

In July Craig launched the internal affairs investigation into the narcotics section when he said he learned of troubling aspects of a February drug raid.

A property owner had a camera recording that sources believe shows the officers removing a box from the scene.

It is believed that the box was never logged and the box is also believed to be missing.

Craig did say that marijuana was found on the property but the owner made a claim to possessing medical marijuana. Craig said he is still investigating whether it was a legal possession.

The issue of the missing box recently came to Craig's attention. Internal affairs is still investigating.
