YPSILANTI, Mich. (WJBK) - The life of a TV news reporter is always an adventure. Saturday, Fox 2's Amy Lange took things to new heights, jumping out of an airplane with the US Army Golden Knights.

The experience came with an education. Amy had to watch a video, sign waivers, learn the right jumping position, and tour the plane with Sgt. First Class Joe Jones. He's the guy who made sure she got safely to the ground from 12,500 feet in the air. The duo dropped at about 120 miles per hour; a mile and a half free-fall for about 45 seconds. Joe has jumped 6,000 times and has 2,000 tandem jumps to his name.

This was not just a fun jump at the Thunder Over Michigan air show in Ypsilanti, it was an opportunity to experience what members of the US Army regularly do in dangerous combat zones. Amy's parents and her husband were there watching from the ground.

When asked if she was nervous, Amy insisted, "No. I'm really excited!" But once in the air she said, "This is really high!" When it was all over, she described the jump as "an awesome experience!" She got a thumbs up from Sgt. Jones and told us she would definitely do it again.
