Sterling Heights man charged with stabbing murder of wife

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - Fred Young claimed he was at his Sterling Heights residence the night his wife Desanee Young was killed. He is now charged with her murder.

Her body was eventually found the morning of June 2nd, abandoned inside her red Dodge Durango parked on Piedmont Street on Detroit's west side.

Fred Young's preliminary exam was Thursday and the first officer at the scene, Ronda Morris of the Detroit Police Department, testified it was clear Desanee suffered a violent death.

"She had multiple cuts and stab wounds about her body," Morris testified. "Her neck was cut to the point where it was almost separated from her body."

During the preliminary hearing, witnesses helped to confirm what family had suspected all along.

Fred Young had left his Sterling Heights home that night and was seen twice around the same time his wife was killed - 30  minutes away in Detroit. One witness says he saw Fred Young walking down the street around 3 a.m. a couple of blocks away from where Desanee was found dead.

His cousin testified he was startled by Young who came walking up to his house around the same time to get his black Pontiac GTO again just down the street from the crime scene. He claims Young left in a hurry.

Desanee Young's sister Ebony Thomas says she suspected Fred Young all along.

"She didn't deserve to be tortured and murdered the way she was murdered," Thomas says. "And left in the gutter like she didn't mean anything when she was loved by each and everyone here."
