A Marietta man convicted of abusing his wife will be sentenced after a Cobb County jury deliberated late Thursday night.

Ricky Allen, 39, was convicted of family violence battery, aggravated battery, and false imprisonment. The jury acquitted Allen of kidnapping.

During the trial, jurors heard evidence of the beating he inflicted on his wife in their Birchwood Lane home in June 2013, according to Cobb District Attorney Vic Reynolds.

He has previously been convicted eight times of abusing his wife, according to Reynolds.

Assistant District Attorney Sherwin K. Figueroa said the victim has filed for divorce from Allen.

Cobb Superior Court Judge S. Lark Ingram will sentence Allen at a later date.

He is facing a maximum of 30 years in prison.
