Manhattan Beach, CA -

(FOX 11) Three young white sharks were spotted just south of Manhattan beach pier Sunday morning.

LA County lifeguards tweeted this warning, "At 10:30am, the @LACoLifeguards in Manhattan Beach received reports of 4 juvenile white sharks off the coast of Manhattan beach pier."

Lifeguards observed the 6-7 foot long sharks for about half an hour and used boats to push them off shore. The sharks were no threat to swimmers and life guards did not clear the water.

Shark sightings are not uncommon in the area. A great white shark attacked a swimmer last month after a fisherman caught the shark on his line.

It sparked a debate over fishing off the pier and a temporary emergency ban on pier fishing was put into affect in Manhattan beach.

That ban will be lifted Tuesday but fishing will resume with restrictions. Ultimately the state has the final say on if a ban can be put into effect.
