Baby goat found gutted, burned in suspected sacrifice

CITY OF DETROIT -  It seems like something out of a horror movie.

Employees discovered a baby goat that appears to have been sacrificed right outside of their building on Detroit's east side.

Vilay Menorath made the discovery. She manages the Russell Industrial building on Clay Street near the Chrysler Service Drive.

"It seems so bizarre," said Menorath. "It just showed up out of nowhere."

On Monday she got a call from a tenant, who couldn't believe what they discovered - and she couldn't either.

"Very evil to want to burn an animal and leave it like that," she said.

The goat appears to have been gutted and set on fire between their building and Karpiniski's, a vacant restaurant.

A bottle of lighter fluid sits next to the charred remains.

There is a rope around the goat's neck and two white chalk circles around the body, leading them to believe someone tried to sacrifice the goat in a possible satanic ritual.

Duwan Payne works security for the building and he said they called Detroit Police, who directed them to the Michigan Humane Society. They were then directed to animal control.

Payne and Menorath say a truck showed up, but workers told them they only deal with live animals and left.
