FAIRMOUNT PARK - Police are investigating a deadly abduction that ended at the Schuylkill River where two bodies were pulled from the water. A third person is being treated for stab wounds.

It happened along the 2400 block of Kelly Drive where officers found a partially clothed man who had been stabbed and bound.

According to police, the victims lived a dangerous life. Police say drugs may have been involved and an Asian gang connection is being investigated

“It's very brutal, Three individuals, all of them, their hands and feet bound, their eyes covered, stabbed multiple times. Two of three their were throats slit, thrown into the Schuylkill River. Most barbaric murder I've seen,' said Philadelphia Homicide Captain James Clark.

According to investigators, all three friends were targeted because they were involved in something risky when it went horrifically bad. Police say they were abducted together by five or six men stabbed and tortured.

“Whether they drowned or were dead at time placed in river, I really can't say. The medical examiner will be able to determine during an autopsy if water is in lungs and so forth,” said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey.

The 23-year-old lone survivor is in critical condition. He's a resident in Northern Liberties. Police say even though he was weighted to keep his body down in the river like the others, he was tied differently.

“His feet were not anchored. And he was able to stay afloat and when he heard his abductors takeoff he was able to swim to shore,” said Captain Clark.

Police found the other two victims submerged between five and ten feet in the water.

Philadelphia police are still investigating and are searching for surveillance video in the area.
