Four-Month Old Bear Cub Rescued From Arizona Highway

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A four-month-old bear cub has been rescued from the side of an Arizona Highway.

Christopher Morris was driving when he thought he saw dog killed on the road. He noticed little rounded ears and realized it was a bear cub.

He turned his vehicle around and discovered that it was still alive. He began to call around looking for help, but found none.

Morris got out of his car, picked up the bear and drove it to the local wildlife conservation center where a vet worked on the cub's injures.

“He actually looks pretty good except for a broken front leg which he has a cast on now and that will take maybe a couple weeks to heal," said Kim Carr of the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center.

Carr says they are not yet sure if the bear cub will be able to be released back into the wild.

The north Scottsdale animal sanctuary houses a variety of wildlife including bears, mountain lions, deer, coyote and wolves.
